Electric Baseboard Heat

Electric baseboard heat is a top choice among energy efficient heating systems, with heaters and coils that also take up very little space.

Heating a home is a requirement for most people living in colder climates and there are a few options available for doing this. Electric baseboard heat is a common option for keeping a home warm and these types of heaters are typically available as portable or permanently installed units.

An electric baseboard heat system usually comprises a series of small, slim units which are designed to be installed at ground level in the rooms of a home. They can be used as a system on their own or can also be used to supplement other heating types. A baseboard heater has a heating element inside it and this can typically comprise electric coils or a sealed liquid. When the power is turned on this heating element will warm up. Cool air is then drawn into the unit by a fan, warmed as it passes the heating element and then circulated back into the room to heat it.

In most cases an electric baseboard heater will be placed below the window location in a room to help reduce heat loss through the glass. However if this is not a practical location, they can be placed in other areas. The can be permanently installed and connected into a properties electrical network. However, there are also portable units available which can be moved from room to room as required.

The main advantage of installing electric baseboard heaters is that they require little space and this can be good for homes with smaller rooms. They are also typically energy efficient and can be affordable to run, as well as being relatively affordable to purchase. Many of the units available are also considered to be safe for use in homes with young children and pets.

There are a number of manufactures that produce electric baseboard heat systems. Q-Mark is one of these and they have a range of heaters on offer. This includes the 2500 series which has a range of baseboard heaters from 2 foot to 6 foot in length, with the costs for these varying from around $30 to $60. They are manufactured to operate quietly and are considered fairly easy to install.

This can be found on sale for around $95 and incorporates carrying handles to make it easy to transport from room to room. A thermostat lets you easily control the temperature and a built in automatic overheat shut-off makes it a safe heater to use.
